How we research AI agents
Each category has a fixed checklist of workflows. We check every vendor against it using public sources (product pages, funding announcements, and trade press) and cite each claim. Picks are editorial judgments about fit. We do not yet run hands-on product tests, so we do not score voice quality or latency.
Voice agents for freight: the checklist
| Workflow | Counts as documented when a source describes |
|---|---|
| Automated carrier offers at load creation | Outreach to carriers triggered automatically when a load is created |
| Carrier vetting integration | Qualification through a vetting tool such as Highway |
| Load board posting | Automated posting to DAT, Truckstop, or similar |
| Inbound carrier calls | The agent answering calls from carriers about posted loads |
| Outbound check / tracking calls | The agent placing calls to drivers or carriers for status or ETAs |
| Rate negotiation by voice | The agent negotiating price on a call |
| Appointment scheduling | The agent booking or rescheduling pickup or delivery appointments |
| AR, billing, or collections | The agent handling invoicing, payment status, or collections |
| SMS / text alongside voice | Text messaging as a channel on the same agent |
A workflow not found in public sources is marked as not found, not as absent.
Process
- 01Define the checklist
Workflows are chosen per category before vendors are reviewed.
- 02Collect public evidence
Vendor product pages, press releases, funding announcements, and independent trade coverage.
- 03Cite every claim
Each claim links to a numbered source. Vendor-reported results and company-provided information are labeled as such.
- 04Make editorial picks
“Best for” picks reflect our judgment of fit by buyer size and priority, based on the evidence collected.
- 05Refresh quarterly
Articles are re-checked each quarter and show the date of the last update.
Sourcing and corrections
Every vendor is evaluated with the same criteria and weights. Every factual claim on this site links to a public source. Vendors can submit corrections with supporting evidence; accepted corrections are noted with the date of the change.
Corrections
Vendors and readers can send corrections with a source to corrections@enterpriseagentindex.com. Corrections are noted on the page with the date.
